National news: Uttar Pradesh government has gifted a festival bonus to its staff. Dearness allowance has been raised from 55% to 58%. The decision will benefit around 2.8 million employees and pensioners across the state. This hike, effective from July 2025, ensures more money in their pockets and improves their living conditions during rising inflation.

Arrears From July 2025

The government clarified that the hike will be applicable from July 1, 2025. Employees will receive arrears for July to September in cash with their October salary. This timely benefit provides additional support during the festive season.

Heavy Burden On State

This decision will cost the Uttar Pradesh government a big amount. By March 2026, an additional ₹1,960 crore will be spent. Around ₹550 crore will go into arrears, and from December 2025 onwards, ₹245 crore extra will be required every month.

Benefit To OPS Employees

Employees under the Old Pension Scheme will also benefit. Around ₹185 crore will be deposited in their General Provident Fund accounts. The government ensured that both present employees and pensioners gain equally from this DA hike.

Strategic Move Before Elections

Experts believe this is also a smart political decision. Ahead of upcoming assembly elections, the step will strengthen the government’s image among employees and their families. It is seen as a mix of relief and political strategy.

CM Yogi’s Assurance

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the government is fully committed to employees’ welfare. The hike is aimed at reducing inflation pressure and improving living standards. This statement underlined that the government stands with its workforce in tough times.

Festival Joy Enhanced

With this hike, employees and pensioners can celebrate Diwali with extra income. Families will feel financial relief, and the festive mood will brighten further. This move has spread positivity among the working class of Uttar Pradesh.
